Vietnam Pineapple Industry Overview

Vietnam is one of Southeast Asia’s most significant pineapple producers — ranked among the top 10 globally by cultivation area and output volume. Pineapple cultivation is concentrated in the Mekong Delta provinces of Kien Giang and Tien Giang, the Central Highlands, and the southern provinces of Long An and Tay Ninh, with year-round harvest cycles that support continuous production runs for export.

Vietnam’s predominant commercial variety is the Queen Victoria pineapple — smaller than the Thai MD2 but prized for its naturally sweet-tart flavour profile, golden-yellow flesh, and lower fibre content. This delivers a clean, vivid juice that performs strongly in both 100% juice and juice drink formulations — particularly in markets where lighter, less cloying pineapple flavour is preferred over the heavily sweetened profiles common from concentrate-based alternatives.

For importers seeking pineapple juice with a clean, authentic tropical flavour profile — not reconstituted concentrate sourced from third countries — Vietnamese-origin pineapple juice delivers a genuinely differentiated product at competitive landed cost across all major export markets.

Why Source Pineapple Juice from Vietnam

Most international pineapple juice is sourced from Thailand, the Philippines, or Costa Rica. Vietnam offers a commercially compelling alternative — particularly for buyers seeking authentic Southeast Asian provenance, competitive pricing, and FTA tariff advantages unavailable to those competing origins.

🍍 Domestic origin, not imported concentrate
Vietnamese pineapple juice is produced from domestically grown fruit — not reconstituted from concentrate sourced in a third country. This delivers genuine “Product of Vietnam” provenance for authentic origin positioning on EU, Australian, and UK labels.

📉 0% tariff in most major markets
EVFTA, UKVFTA, AANZFTA, and RCEP collectively deliver 0% preferential import duty for Vietnamese pineapple juice into the EU, UK, Australia, Japan, and South Korea — markets where Philippine and Costa Rican origin products face standard tariffs.

💰 Competitive FOB pricing
Vietnam’s pineapple production and manufacturing cost base sits below Thailand and significantly below European-origin alternatives. Lower input costs translate to competitive FOB pricing that improves your margin at retail price points across all major distribution channels.

🏭 OEM flexibility at mid-volume
Vietnamese OEM manufacturers offer formula customisation, multiple packaging formats, and MOQ structures (from 1 × 20ft FCL) that suit mid-volume private label programs — unlike large Thai or Philippine co-packers requiring higher volume commitments.

⏱️ Short transit to AU, ME, and NE Asia
Cat Lai Port, HCMC to Sydney: 10–14 days. To Dubai: 14–18 days. To Busan: 4–6 days. Shorter transit reduces in-transit inventory cost and gives greater flexibility in order scheduling versus Costa Rican or European alternatives.

🔗 Supply chain diversification
For buyers already sourcing pineapple juice from Thailand or the Philippines, Vietnam provides a commercially qualified second-source option — same ASEAN tropical origin, equivalent product quality, better FTA coverage, and OEM flexibility.

FAQ

Is Interfresh’s pineapple juice from Vietnamese-grown fruit or imported concentrate?
Our pineapple juice is produced from domestically grown Vietnamese pineapples — primarily the Queen Victoria variety from Kien Giang, Tien Giang, and Long An provinces. We do not source raw material from third countries. This supports authentic “Product of Vietnam” country of origin labeling and genuine provenance positioning in your target market.

Can I order 100% pineapple juice rather than a juice drink?
Yes. We produce 100% pineapple juice (NFC — not from concentrate) as well as juice drinks at any juice content percentage. 100% juice is processed via hot-fill or aseptic filling depending on target shelf life and packaging format. Specify your required juice content % in your brief and we confirm pricing and production timeline before sampling begins.

Which processing method should I specify for export to Europe or the UK?
UHT or aseptic filling — both deliver 18–24 month shelf life that retains adequate remaining shelf life after 28–35 days of transit to EU and UK ports. Hot-fill (12–15 months) is not recommended for European shipments — the transit time plus customs clearance and distribution time leaves insufficient remaining shelf life for mainstream retailer acceptance thresholds (typically 75–80% of declared shelf life on arrival).

Can I mix pineapple juice with other beverages in one container?
Yes. Mixed-SKU containers combining pineapple juice with other Interfresh beverage categories — mango juice, coconut water, aloe vera drinks, basil seed drinks — are standard for buyers managing multi-category portfolios. Our logistics team advises on carton dimension compatibility and container loading configuration to maximise freight efficiency per shipment.

What label compliance support does Interfresh provide for my target market?
Our export team reviews label artwork against destination market labeling requirements before production — including juice content % declaration (mandatory in AU under FSANZ Standard 2.6.1, in EU under Directive 2012/12, and in UK equivalent), NIP format, allergen declarations, country of origin wording, and importer address. Label review is included as standard for all commercial orders. Non-compliant juice labels are the most common cause of customs holds and retailer rejection — we identify issues before production, not after.
