If you distribute coconut water in the UK, you likely fall into one of two groups. Some buyers resell an existing brand through wholesale channels. Others want to build a private label range under their own name.
Interfresh works closely with the second group. We are a Vietnam based coconut water manufacturer and a coconut water supplier UK brand owners trust. Our team supports importers and distributors who need a manufacturing partner, not simply a pallet of stock.
This page covers what matters at this stage of sourcing. It includes UK import rules after Brexit, packaging formats, MOQ, certifications and shipping timelines to UK ports.

The UK Coconut Water Market in 2026

The UK is one of the fastest growing coconut water markets in Europe. Future Market Insights values UK coconut water sales at approximately USD 360 million in 2025, projected to reach around USD 1.09 billion by 2035. That points to the market roughly tripling within a decade.
Fortune Business Insights estimates the UK accounts for roughly 22 percent of the entire European coconut products market. Growth is driven by private label expansion and organic, sugar free ranges. Reformulation linked to the soft drinks sugar levy adds further momentum.
For any coconut water supplier UK buyers work with today, this growth means rising demand for private label capacity. Branded resale alone no longer covers where the category is heading.

Importing Coconut Water into the UK After Brexit

Great Britain left the EU single market in 2021. Since then, food imports follow the Border Target Operating Model, known as BTOM, rather than EU rules. Northern Ireland still follows a separate arrangement under the Windsor Framework.
BTOM sorts goods into high, medium and low risk categories, based mainly on animal and plant health risk. Processed, shelf stable beverages such as coconut water sit outside the highest risk tiers. Those tiers mainly apply to fresh produce and animal products.
This does not remove compliance obligations. Importers must still meet the UK Food Safety Act and Food Standards Agency labeling rules. These now run separately from EU labeling law. A dependable coconut water supplier UK importers can rely on should prepare UK specific paperwork rather than reusing EU documents.
Interfresh already manages market specific documentation for our coconut water supplier for USA importers partners. This includes FSVP and FDA requirements. We apply the same discipline to UK shipments. Our FDA import compliance guide outlines the documentation process we follow for any regulated market.

Certifications UK Retailers and Distributors Ask For

Interfresh production currently holds FDA registration, HACCP, ISO 22000:2018, Halal and GMP certification. These cover food safety, hygiene and religious compliance across most export markets we serve.
Many UK retailers also expect BRCGS, the Global Standard for Food Safety from the British Retail Consortium. It is not a legal requirement, but large chains often treat it as a default supplier expectation.
Our HACCP and ISO 22000 systems already cover much of the same ground as BRCGS. This includes traceability, allergen control and supplier management.
BRCGS certification can be arranged for UK partnerships upon request. Our export team confirms certification scope and timeline once your specification and retailer requirements are set.

Packaging Formats and MOQ for the UK Market

UK retail and foodservice buyers typically request three packaging formats. Tetra Pak suits ambient shelf storage and long distribution chains. Aluminum cans suit convenience retail and premium positioning. Glass bottles suit foodservice and specialty channels.
The table below reflects our current coconut water production lines and standard export packaging.

A standard MOQ of 400 trays per flavor lines up closely with one 20 foot container. This is our usual starting point for a new UK order. Buyers who need Tetra Pak can review full specifications on our dedicated Tetra Pak coconut water manufacturer page.
For distributors comparing can formats, our 320ml can OEM line covers slim can options. Our wider canned coconut water OEM range adds sleek can formats in more detail. Buyers focused on unflavored stock can also see our pure coconut water wholesale page for additive free specifications.

New UK Packaging Rules Distributors Must Track in 2026

The UK Deposit Return Scheme launches on the first of October 2027. It covers PET bottles and aluminum cans between 150ml and 3 liters, with a flat 20 pence deposit per container.
Producer and retailer registration with the scheme operator, Exchange for Change, opens in the third quarter of 2026. Packaging placed on the market from late 2026 needs scheme ready artwork. That stock will still be in circulation at launch.
Glass containers sit outside the England, Scotland and Northern Ireland scheme. Wales includes glass, but without a deposit during an initial transition period.
Separately, Extended Producer Responsibility fees apply to most packaging placed on the UK market. Before confirming an order, distributors should clarify who registers the packaging data. This applies whether it falls to the importer or the coconut water supplier UK partner. Interfresh works with UK partners now to align can and carton artwork with these requirements ahead of the 2027 deadline.

Shipping Route and Lead Time to UK Ports

Container shipments from Ho Chi Minh City typically arrive through Felixstowe, Southampton or London Gateway. These three ports handle most UK bound food and beverage cargo.
Production time runs 15 to 25 days after order confirmation and artwork approval. Ocean transit from Vietnam to the UK generally takes 30 to 35 days, depending on routing and transshipment.
A practical planning sequence for a UK order looks like this.
  • 10 to 12 weeks before shelf date: confirm specification and request samples
  • 8 to 10 weeks before shelf date: place the production order and confirm artwork
  • 5 to 6 weeks before shelf date: production and quality inspection
  • 4 to 5 weeks before shelf date: ocean freight to the UK port
  • Final 1 to 2 weeks: customs clearance and inland delivery
Payment generally follows TT terms, with 50 percent deposit and the balance due before shipment. Repeat orders can move to negotiated terms once a track record is established.

Private Label Coconut Water for UK Brands

Many UK buyers want their own label rather than reselling an existing brand. Interfresh supports full private label development across pure coconut water, coconut water with pulp and flavored variants.
Sample development takes 7 to 14 days from confirmed specification. A full private label program covers formulation, pulp level, sweetness and packaging design before production begins.
Branded resale usually needs a smaller first order than a private label program. Private label requires dedicated production and artwork approval. Our OEM and private label manufacturing service handles both paths within one process. Buyers can start with resale volume and move to private label later.

Why Distributors Choose Interfresh as Their Coconut Water Supplier UK

Interfresh sources coconuts from the Mekong Delta, where year round supply avoids the seasonal gaps seen in some other origins. Our OEM coconut water range spans cans, glass bottles and Tetra Pak. This gives UK buyers flexibility across retail and foodservice channels.
We already support importers in the United States and Australia, two markets with equally strict compliance expectations. That documentation experience carries directly into UK specific paperwork and labeling.
Ready to move forward. Contact our export team for a quotation or request free samples. You can also ask for our OEM catalogue before placing a first order.
